Spirit of Caring Award
RAS is proud to be recognized with a Spirit of Caring Award from the Sioux Empire United Way for our role in helping to improve the lives in our community! Because of the generosity of our employees and as well as corporate gifts, RAS has helped the Sioux Empire United Way to achieve their fundraising goal for 25 consecutive years!
Sioux Empire United Way 2016 Business of the Year
RAS received the 2016 Business of the Year Award from the Sioux Empire United Way in the 1-100 employee category. This award is given to the company that has greatly benefited Sioux Empire United Way through its generosity and/or its employee's involvement.
RAS has a long history of supporting Sioux Empire United Way, working hard to increase participation each year. Employee Campaign Manager Julie Waage and her campaign committee continued the tradition this year. A quick look at the numbers shows their enthusiasm for United Way: RAS has seen a 92.4% increase in giving over the past 5 years, with this year's campaign having 94% participation; 45% of employees also qualify as Rising Heart or Heart Club members.
We are proud to have employees serve as members of the Kids' Chance Board of Directors. Representing RAS are Larry Klaahsen, Executive Vice President and Steve Lincoln, Assistant Vice President/Business Development Manager, Representing OHARA, LLC is Pat Farritor, President of OHARA. Kids' Chance is a 501(c)3 organization that provides educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers seriously injured or killed on the job. www.kidschance.org.
RAS Sponsors Make-A-Wish Child
RAS was proud to sponsor a local child through the Adopt-A-Wish program. This program is through Make-A-Wish of South Dakota, and their mission is simple, “We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
RAS employees raised over $5,000 in a holiday basket raffle to sponsor this wish. In March 2013, our sponsor child flew to Jamaica and had an memorable trip with his family. RAS also hosted a “welcome home” bash at Cherapa to meet him and his family.
